Club News for 2010/2011
Around 30 of the town’s most energetic and enthusiastic young people have undertaken the leadership training program and are now ready, willing and able to act as youth leaders for the next year.
This year the hosts and hostesses will take leadership roles in the ‘Drop-in’ centre and No Name discos. The Drop-in is open 8.30pm-11pm every Friday night (except disco nights) starting from October 1st.
The discos take place on the following dates, Nov. 12th, Dec. 10th, Jan. 21st, Feb. 11th, March 11th, April 15th and May 13th.
Our end of year presentations and last disco is booked for June 24th.
Donegal’s Hairy Fundraiser
The razors and the dyes were out in Donegal recently – all for a good cause. Donegal No Name Club took part in the national ‘Shave or Dye’ initiative to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society.
21 No Name Club heads were shaved when the fundraiser was held in Bumblebees play centre in front of over 100 people. Ben Sheridan and Ronan Cassidy, both No Name Club hosts, took on the role of barbers for the night.
The money from the event is still being collected and Claire McMenamin, the Donegal club secretary says: “A great nights craic was had by all involved and a lot of money was raised. Fair play to all those who were brave enough to have their hair shaved or dyed and fair play to the Hosts and Hostess’ who organised the fundraiser; they did a fantastic job.”
