Adult volunteers

The No Name Club always wants to hear from people who are interested in volunteering with the organisation. Our adult volunteers play important roles in communities throughout Ireland by helping No Name Clubs to meet teenagers needs and deliver activities and events in safe and supervised surroundings. The clubs empower teenagers and allow them to assume responsibility as they move into adulthood. No Name Clubs are often involved with community initiatives and the organisation works closely with State agencies such as An Garda Síochána, the Road Safety Authority and the HSE. As well as delivering events and activities at local level, there are regional and national competitions that allow young people to showcase their talents to wider audiences and among their peers. Our adults are provided with training such as an Induction to the No Name Club and in Child Protection Awareness and are making a very valuable and worthy contribution to Irish Society. Anyone interested in finding out more about volunteering for the No Name Club can contact its head office at 059 6400299.

Teenage members

And of course without the teenagers, there is no club. Opportunities also arise for teenagers aged 15+ to get involved with clubs around the country. Becoming a teenage member of a club – known as a host or hostess – allows young people to develop their confidence and leadership skills. The club is theirs and they, along with the fellow club members, identify what events and activities they want it to run. No Name Clubs allow the young people to enjoy themselves in fun and social settings that are removed from the influences of drink and other drugs. Valuable and long-lasting friendships are formed, social and decision making skills are enhanced, creative talents are developed, and confidence and leadership skills grow as the teenage members move towards adulthood.

Carlow

Carlow No Name Club is a newly established grouping who are keen to welcome more teenage members to the club. They meet every Friday from 7pm to 9m at the New Oak Community Centre, New Oak Estate, Carlow. Lots of fun events and activities are planned by the club and it would be delighted to see new faces become involved. Anyone interested in getting involved or finding out more about Carlow No Name Club can contact Aine at 086 3347289.

Donegal

Donegal No Name Club runs an excellent drop-in service for its teenage members every Friday night. The young people come together at Bumblebees Indoor Play Centre in Donegal Town where they can enjoy the entertainment on offer. This includes X-box, Karaoke, a pool table, disco room and use of gym facilities. The drop in service runs from 8.30pm – 11pm and the club could do with some help from adult volunteers to ensure the night’s entertainment runs smoothly. Anyone interested in helping out is asked to contact Claire at 087 6887291.

Drogheda

A number of people in the County Louth town of Drogheda have expressed an interest in establishing a No Name Club in the area. The No Name Club is supporting these people as they endeavour to create fun and lively activities for young people in a safe environment. If anyone has an interest in helping these people out, they are asked to contact Niall Bailey at 086 8846357.

Dundalk

An opportunity exists for teenagers from Dundalk to join their local No Name Club. The grouping is newly established and will provide young people in the Co Louth town with very valuable social and recreational options. Any teenagers or parents of children who want to find out more about the club can contact Niall at 086 8846357.

Kildare

Interest has been expressed by people in Kildare Town about establishing a No Name Club in their community. With the support of local people, the No Name Club hopes to see such aspirations come to fruition. To get the club off the ground, adult leaders are needed to help in its establishment and anyone interested in lending their support can contact Marian at 085 1485539.

Tallaght

Efforts are underway to establish a club in Tallaght. This would provide an area with a very sizeable population with a very important social outlet for local teenagers and help in developing their confidence and leadership skills. We are looking to establish an adult committee to oversee the running of the club and anyone interested in becoming involved can contact Marian at 085 1485539.
